Frequently Asked Questions
Why hire a fractional CXO instead of a consulting firm?
A consulting firm leaves you a presentation and walks away. I stay and lead. I’m accountable for whether things actually move – not for whether the recommendation looks right on paper. You get one experienced leader who integrates into your business, not a rotating team of junior consultants learning on your dime.
When does fractional leadership make sense – and when doesn’t it?
It makes sense when a company has outgrown the way it’s run: the owner handles everything, decisions pile up, growth hits a ceiling. It doesn’t make sense when you need someone for a single task, or when a capable person already on the team can solve it. If that’s the case, I’ll tell you straight.
What does it cost?
It depends on scope and how deeply I’m involved – from a few days a month to something more hands-on. It isn’t billed by the hour. You pay for the outcome and for someone holding the direction, not for time logged. I provide a clear, fixed proposal after our first conversation, once I understand the scope of what’s actually involved.
What does getting started look like?
I listen and ask first. The early weeks are about understanding the business – where decisions get stuck, what the company rests on, and who it depends on. Only then do I propose. No grand gestures on day one; order first, then direction.
Do you work with small companies, or only larger ones?
I work with companies where the owner is still carrying too much alone – whether that’s five people or fifty. Size isn’t the deciding factor. What matters is whether you’ve reached the point where the business needs to be led differently than the way it got here.
Can we stay anonymous?
Yes. Absolutely. Your company’s name will never be used in my marketing, and I don’t publish case studies or client lists without explicit consent. Part of this work is sensitive – internal matters, decisions not yet ready for daylight. Discretion is part of the service, not an add-on.
